Great Upcycling Ideas

With special help from Ben Calvin and Polly Fairfield 🙂

As the Hoosier to Hoosier Community Sale intern, I am responsible for maintaining social media websites.  If you are anything like me, you never throw anything away, because who know that at some point you will be able to do something creative with it.  Upcycling ideas are endless, but here are some cool ones to get you started.

  1. Puppy getting too big for your bed?   Why not make him his own?  All you have to do is take a suitcase and an old pillow, combine them, and you have a brand new doggy bed.Untitled2.  Have some old textbooks you just can’t sell back?   Fed up with midterms?  Make a dock for your iPhone!

3. Got some flowers from that special someone that you want to display?  Look at this cool and enlightening idea!  All you need is a burned out lightbulb for this great recycled vase!

4.  One too many free shirts lying around?  Instead of throwing them away, why not make a handy reusable bag?  You’ll be ‘shirt’ to love it!  Don’t forget to bring it next time you go grocery shopping!

5.  Looking for an earth-friendly addition to your earring collection? Save some aluminum cans and make some fun earrings!

I hope you enjoyed these great upcycling ideas!  Not only are these projects thrifty and crafty, but they also help divert needless waste from going to landfills.  IUOS has a goal of reducing campus waste by 20% by 2020, and you can help!  Try out any of these ideas, or visit the Hoosier to Hoosier Facebook page and Pinterest for more ideas!  When you try them, let us know how they turn out and post pictures on the Facebook page! New upcycling ideas?  We’d love to hear from you!
