Meet our resource use and recycling intern, Emma Sperry! Emma is a senior pursuing degrees in sociology, economics, and math through the College of Arts and Sciences at IU. She is interested in the design and implementation of public policy that maximizes economic and social benefits to society while minimizing both economic and environmental costs. In order to create such policy, she believes that we must analyze the way s people understand, and thus interact with, policy, including the ways in which individuals take ownership over their responsibilities to fellow citizens and the environment. Through her internship, Emma is studying waste management and resource use at IU, working to implement new programs that will allow students, staff, and faculty to better understand their environmental impact and to take further responsibility for their actions or their inaction.
